2-year Harvard-SJTU Post-Doctoral Program in Boston, USA and Shanghai, China

 

Professor Guoan Li at Harvard University and Professor Tsung-Yuan Tsai at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) are inviting applicants for a 2-year Harvard-SJTU Joint Post-Doctoral program with possible extension up to 3 years. The successful applicant will receive the training in Shanghai for the first year and then move to Boston for a ~6 month stay (according to the progress) in the second year.

 

Job Description

The responsibility of this position includes quantitatively investigation of the in-vivo musculoskeletal biomechanics in patients with joint diseases or implants, processing CT/MRI/Ultrasound images of patients to construct 3D anatomic models of the joints, and investigating the optimal surgical implantations of surgical devices using computational biomechanics methods.

 

Job Requirements

The potential candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Computer Science or an M.D. with graduate research experience on musculoskeletal joint biomechanics. Background in the hip/knee joint biomechanics is desirable, but not essential. The candidate should have experience (or equivalent) in conducting human joint kinematics and kinetics evaluation using imaging technique and motion analysis, and the capability to coordinate between research engineers, students, surgeons, physical therapist, clinicians as well as patients. The position may also include managing and coordinating activities for specific research protocol(s). The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow may help prepare IRB applications and also develop, prepare, and maintain study material, individual participant files, and standard operating procedures for research projects.
